Dear Friends of Art and the Engadin

I am pleased to present you this year’s WALK OF ART, a course through the Engadin which will guide you to selected artistic projects and installations as well as to institutions which create the culture of the Engadin.

St. Moritz Art Masters or SAM, as we call it tenderly, has now existed for four years. The purpose of the 10-days festival is to achieve a platform which shows residents and visitors the cultural variety of the Engadin.

The platform is based on five pillars, which consist of the following components. On the one-hand projects which are realized by and with artists on various locations initiated by SAM. We tagged all SAM projects of the WALK OF ART with a sun symbol for your guidance.

On the other hand the selected internationally operating galleries are an important part for the program and exhibitions of SAM. In addition we integrate the cultural institutions and museums of the Engadin. We are delighted to integrate the houses of Chesa Planta Zuoz and Samedan as new venues.

One further component is the panel discussion and the artist talk. The SAMposium invites participating artists for talks and lectures. Besides the SAMposium the Engadin Art Talk (E.A.T.) is once more represented. Cristina Bechtler, Hans Ulrich Obrist und Beatrix Ruf initiated E.A.T. The topic of last year was "Art and Architecture". This year E.A.T will again bring top international artists, architects and curators to the Engadin.

The fifth pillar of SAM are the sponsors and their art involvements, which are reflected in exhibitions projects and their collections.

We hope to give you scope for discussion with this year’s program and an experience of art and nature. We are glad to welcome you in the Engadin!

Sincerely yours,
Reiner Opoku
SAM Curator
